    A Big Year: 2018

    Here's To A Big Year: 2018

Merry Christmas to all our members and families. We have had a very big 2018 at Brisbane Table Tennis and I am excited about 2019.  During the last year, the highlights are:

    • Installation of Taraflex flooring

    • Refurbishment of the amenities

    • Growth in fixtures numbers

    • Successful Brisbane Open

    • Many individual Brisbane player highlights

    • Inclusive approach, table tennis for all.

    2018 a big year

As part of our inclusive approach we have not only maintained the prices for many services and we have actually dropped our Fixtures Price down to $12pp.

The biggest price reduction was practice fees which were $14pp per session now are only $10pp per session.

Not to mention the drop in club member fees

As well as being inclusive this year our elite players have also performed well at state and national, and even international levels. Special mention going to Benj Gould who was the only player from Australia to represent at this year’s Youth Olympics.

The Queensland team won bronze at the national U18 boys’ championship. Three out of the 5 players in the team came from our association, a testament to our investment in player development over many years.  Mateo Dvorani and Benjamin Gould have gone onto to represent Australia in the World Juniors which were held in Bendigo.

Successfully hosted the 2018 Brisbane Open Tournament with the help of our generous sponsors. The event garnered more than 145 competitors from 20 clubs. The event was promoted across social media and featured live streaming that had a combined reach of more than 10,000 people.

Our association remains committed to providing a professional and comprehensive coaching program. This program includes sessions for players of any age or standard of play. While we have amazing success at the elite level of our sport, the BTTA council is welcoming new players (and players returning after a hiatus).

In January we kick off our new “Garage League” both northside, at the Windsor centre, and southside at Carina.

I would like to thank our Club Manager, Derek Scott for his dedication & consistency.

As part of our venue refurbishment we now have the new floor installed. This has made our club an international standard stadium. A big thank you to volunteer John Swinbourne for overseeing grants and project management. I would also like to personally thank club patron and local Councillor, Andrew Wines for his continued support.

In fact our have seen an up-swing in demand so we have added 6 new table tennis courts with brand new table tennis tables.

Here’s to new exciting times in 2019.
