The sporting equipment legacy from the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games has been made possible under the Queensland Government's Sports Assets Legacy Program and has been facilitated by Table Tennis Queensland.

The sporting assets received by Table Tennis Queensland are among more than 20,000 items gifted to schools, sporting organizations, and community groups across the State.

Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said the Legacy initiative was geared towards all sporting levels, from recreational players and social sports groups, to elite clubs and serious competitors.

"We're a sports mad state and building on the excitement of the Games, this initiative can support communities and individuals to be more active, happier and healthier,” Ms Jones said.

"I hope our future table tennis champions will be inspired by the fact their equipment was used by Commonwealth Games athletes," she said.

It is anticpated that the new equipment will be installed by mid-year.
