The Brisbane city Council is rolling out table tennis tables across 12 parks across the metro area. As part of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, this is a joint initiative between the Brisbane City Council and the Queensland State Government.
Table Tennis in 12 Parks Across Brisbane
The closest outdoor table tennis table to the Brisbane Table Tennis club in Windsor is actually right next door in Downey Park.
You can also play at the Graceville Riverside Parklands at the Simpsons Playground.
There is another outdoor table at Greenway Esplanade Park in Parkinson. In nearby Sunnybank you can play in Yimbun Park.
At the bottom of Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park is another outdoor table tennis table. This is a table with a lovely river and city view!
There are also table tennis facilities at Kuringgai Park in Fitzgibbon, Oriel Park in Ascot, and in Orleigh Park in West End.
On the northside Teralba Park in Everton Park and W.A. Jolly Park in Lutwyche are your places to play.
From April there will be two new parks added to the list, being the E.E. McCaskie Oval in Kelvin Grove and Guyatt Park in Saint Lucia.
Local Councillor Angela Owen said "The outdoor table tennis table is a great addition to the Greenways Esplanade Park and is the next stage in promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in this location." She said the aim was to "get people active and moving in their local parks ahead of the Commonwealth Games."
If you don't have your own table tennis racquet then you can borrow a set from local ward offices.
