This year, 2019 has been a very positive year from the Brisbane Table Tennis Association (BTTA). With the fantastic help of the Brisbane City Council and Cr Wines our patron, the facilities have received tremendous upgrades that have radically improved disabled access to table tennis.
The Brisbane Table Tennis Association now offers a simple and attractive fee structure. Our annual membership rate is among the lowest for a Table Tennis Queensland affiliated club. Our low general practice fee of $10 per player for up to 3 hours will be retained in 2020.
Families who simply cannot get enough table tennis now can get access to unlimited practice, coaching, and fixtures for an entire year. This is for immediate families.• Children aged under 18 of Gold Card Members can join for $550 per year instead of the standard $1,100 price e.g. so 1 adult and 1 child would be $1,650.• Families (2 adults and unlimited children) can join for a fixed amount of $2,500During 2019 there has seen strong growth in social play at the centre.
The junior coaching and junior competition programs have been quite successful in 2019. The BTTA is committed to growing our young players, with a special focus on participation and fun while at the same time receiving expert instruction. 2019 has once again seen our best players perform well at State and National level competitions. Our association has a very long history of developing champion players and through our junior and high-performance programs, we are committed to doing so into the future.
This year 34 Brisbane Club members were named in Queensland’s Top 10, more than any other club. We also have the best senior players in the State, Bruno Levis and Min Hyung Lee. Consistent with our inclusive table tennis for all philosophy our Adult Beginners program has proven popular, as does our Social Morning sessions. Wishing all the club members a great Christmas and a terrific New Year. I look forward to seeing you again in 2020. ~ Peter Lander, President
